Six Reasons to Quitting Smoking Habit

People who smoke probably know the damage it does to their health. When you start smoking, you might not experience the health effects immediately, and they might come in the later stage of life, but you will feel the non-health effects almost immediately. If you have been a smoker for a considerable period then at least you know some of its effects such as shortness of breath, dry skin, and thinning hair.

Reduce your expenses – You spend a lot of money in purchasing cigarettes each day. Purchasing a pack of cigarette can leave you without any money to spend on something else. You will realize that you have lots of money to spend on important activities after quitting smoking.

Stop jeopardizing other people’s lives – The smoke from your cigar spread to other people around you. When they inhale the smoke, they will be at a risk of having health problems because the smoke has carcinogen which is the toxic compound in cigarettes. You can opt for vaping which is a safe method of smoking because it does not contain harmful compounds that cigarette has.

Get your senses back – Smokers have imperfect senses, and many of them do not recognize the smell and taste of things as they did before starting smoking. Smoking affects your senses of smell which is also directly related to your taste sensation and after a short while, you may lose both senses. However, this is not a permanent situation because if you quit smoking, you can start nicotine replacement therapy to stabilize your senses.

Prevent accelerated aging – It is no surprise that you might mistake a young person to be an old person if he or she smokes. It hurts the skin causing wrinkles, skin dry out and leathery skin. Studies show that smoking increases the aging process and smoker would appear older than their actual age.

Stop getting coughs and colds – It is quite usual to have coughs and colds occasionally, but the frequency of having those increases if you smoke. Smokers easily get bacterial and viral infections because smoking weakens their immune system thus they become susceptible to colds and coughs. However, when you quit smoking your body will regain its immune strength within a short period.

Endurance to physical activities – Most physical activities require that you have strength, but if you lungs do not function optimally due to smoking, you might not last long. Further, smoking weakens the functioning of the heart which is an important organ in the body. In extreme cases, smokers may not have adequate strength to climb a couple of stairs. If you quit smoking, the organs become functional once again, and you get back your strength.
